Tip: Be careful not to damage the copper wires when stripping, as this can lead to a poor connection.
Disassemble the fitting. It often consists of a cover, a connection block, and a threaded piece. Unscrew these parts and set them aside to avoid losing them.
Attach the blue (neutral) wire and the brown (live) wire to the correct terminals of the connection block inside the fitting. Do this by placing the copper ends of the wires under the screws and tightening them securely.
Important: Check that the wires are firmly connected and that no loose copper strands are visible. This prevents short circuits.
Screw the cover of the fitting back on so that the connection block is safely enclosed. Ensure that the cord passes neatly through the strain relief (if present). This prevents stress on the electrical connections if the cord is accidentally pulled.
Ensure the fitting is securely mounted. Restore the power by plugging the lamp back in or switching the circuit breaker back on. Screw a suitable bulb into the fitting and test whether it works.
After testing, check for any loose parts and make sure everything is securely fastened. Ensure that the fitting does not become excessively hot when the lamp is on. If something is incorrectly connected, immediately turn off the power and check the connections.
